The CENT LAB is a multidisciplinary team of researchers with a diverse educational and research background. We always welcome highly-motivated and talented members to our group. Please check the information below to learn about different opportunities currently available in our laboratory. We encourage and support interested students and postdoctoral fellows to explore different funding opportunities to support their research experience in the group. You can review a list of possible funding mechanisms here.
Postdoctoral Researchers: We are typically interested in qualified candidates with strong track records in small molecule synthesis, controlled polymerization techniques, bioconjugate chemistry, molecular and cellular biology, in vivo tumor models, and nanotechnology.
Graduate Students: We invite MS and Ph.D. students who are interested in biomedical engineering, nanotechnology, pharmaceutical chemistry, drug delivery and targeting, macromolecular sciences, and other related fields to join our group. We particularly invite graduate students and postdoctoral fellows supported by Ministry of National Education of Turkey (MEB) and The Scientific and Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) with similar research interests to join our laboratory. Interested students can send their resume and a summary of their research interests to Dr. Mohamed El-Sayed (firstname.lastname@example.org) to inquire about opportunities in the CENT LAB.
Post-baccalaureate Students: Students with a Bachelors degree in biology, chemistry, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, materials sciences, or pharmacy who are interested in pursuing a graduate degree but lack adequate research experience are encouraged to apply for Michigan Post-baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP). This program allows enrolled students to devote one year of research in a hosting laboratory, like our CENT LAB, to learn new experimental skills and build their research profile to become competitive for admission to the University of Michigan and similar demanding programs. PREP provides one year of funding for accepted students.
Undergraduate Students: Undergraduate students with a strong academic record and great enthusiasm for research work in the areas of biomaterials and drug delivery are welcome in the CENT LAB. Interested students should send a resume, academic transcript, brief description of research interest, and examples of previous work to Dr. Mohamed El-Sayed (email@example.com). We routinely accept undergraduate students through the Cancer Research Summer Internship Program (CaRSIP), the UM Medical School Summer Opportunities for Apprenticeships in Research Program (MedSOAR), Marian Sarah Parker Scholars Program, Summer Undergraduate Research in Engineering (SURE), Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP), and Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP). Accepted students are expected to commit a minimum number of hours every week towards their research projects and attend regular laboratory meetings.
Visiting Scientists: We welcome domestic and international scientists to visit our group and work on mutually-interesting research projects. Interested individuals should send their resume and description of research interests to Dr. Mohamed El-Sayed (firstname.lastname@example.org).
