Call For Proposals:
2008-2009 Coulter Awards

The fourth round of awards from the UM Wallace H. Coulter Foundation Translational Research Partnership begins this November with the official Call for Proposals. Awards are for one year and grants are typically $100,000 in direct costs. Funding will be used to support collaborative translational research projects that involve co-investigators from the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) and a clinical department. Each proposal must include both a core BME faculty member and at least one clinical investigator from a clinical department at the UM. The research must relate directly to applications in health care, and the objectives of the project should include an outcome that will benefit patients. Evaluation of each proposal will be on the basis of scientific merit, potential healthcare impact and significance, experience of the investigators, and the potential for commercialization and for successfully obtaining further support. Eligible candidates are encouraged to contact the Coulter Program Director, Jim O'Connell (jimoconn@umich.edu or #734-657-9737) to discuss possible proposals.
