The fifth round of awards from the UM Wallace H. Coulter Foundation Translational Research Partnership begins this October with the official Call for Proposals. Awards are for one year and grants are typically $100,000 in direct costs. Funding will be used to support collaborative translational research projects that involve co-investigators from the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) and a clinical department. The research must relate directly to applications in health care, and the objectives of the project should include an outcome that will benefit patients. Each proposal will be evaluated on the basis of scientific merit, potential health care impact and significance, and the potential for commercialization and successfully obtaining further support. Proposals must be submitted by 5 PM on December 1, 2009 via e-mail to the Coulter Program Coordinator, Anna Folsom, afolsom@umich.edu. It is strongly suggested that applicants discuss their proposal with the Coulter Program Director, Jim O'Connell (jimoconn@umich.edu #734-647-9926) before submission.
